We follow USGA Rules; below are The Preserve day-to-day local rules.

Local Rules & Info

Daily Play

  • Penalty Areas – Identified by red or yellow stakes/lines as marked on course. Proceed under the applicable relief option; when in doubt, take lateral relief with a one‑stroke penalty.

  • Out of Bounds (OB)White stakes, property perimeter fencing, and clearly posted maintenance/service roads are OB. Stroke‑and‑distance applies.

  • Abnormal Course Conditions (Free Relief)Cart paths, ground under repair (GUR), newly sodded areas, and clearly marked maintenance areas: take nearest point of complete relief, no penalty.

  • Immovable Obstructions – Sprinkler heads, yardage plates, fixed signage, and distance markers: free relief if they interfere with stance or swing (not line of play unless within 2 club‑lengths of the green and ball within 2 club‑lengths of the obstruction).

  • Staked/Young TreesFree relief if the tree or staking interferes with stance or swing. Drop at nearest point of complete relief, no penalty.

  • Native & Environmentally Sensitive Areas – Treat as penalty areas unless otherwise posted. Do not entercordoned or protected habitat.

  • Bunkers – Rake smooth after play and place rakes outside the bunker.

  • CartsStay on paths near tees/greens and where posted. Follow all directional signs; respect roped areas and wet‑weather restrictions.

Pace of Play & Etiquette

  • Target Pace: 4 hours 15 minutes for 18 holes. Ready golf is encouraged.

  • Keep Up with the group ahead; if a faster group reaches you, please invite them through.

  • Search Time: Limit ball searches to 3 minutes.

  • Care for the Course: Repair ball marks, fill/replace divots, and rake bunkers. Respect quiet around tees and greens.

Handicap Conversion

Wildlife Advisory

  • Do not approach, feed, or harass animals (e.g., alligators, turtles, snakes, birds).

  • Retrieve balls only when safe; never from water edges or tall native grass where visibility is poor.

  • Report concerns to the Golf Shop.

Emergency & Weather Procedures

  • One (1) long horn blast: Suspend play immediately. Seek shelter or return to the clubhouse.

  • Two (2) short horn blasts: Play may resume when conditions allow.

  • Lightning: Follow staff/marshal instructions. If you see lightning or hear thunder, take shelter and avoid open areas, isolated trees, and metal objects.
